Don’t Quit

We want each of you to show the same dilegence to the very end, in order to make your HOPE sure. Hebrews 6:11

I just finished reading our of Micah 1-4 stories of a nation who did not know how to finish well. I am always amazed at how much God cheers us on and provides for us as we compete in the race of life for him.

I am reminded again at the coach on the sidelines who has the face guard of some offensive lineman in his hand with a determined face. There is no time to sit around and sing him a song or negotiate what he will do next. The boy has been to practice, and he knows what to do. What he needs is a reminder that no matter how bad your arm hurts or how tired you are he does not have the privilege to stop or quit. There are too many people and to high a goal to quit at this moment. The coaches encouragement gave him the needed motivation to get back on the offensive line and call out strength he did not know he had.

Everyone needs a cheerleader. Today the writer of Hebrews was my cheerleader. The “Divine Mentor” let one of his prize men in the scriptures come along side me and remind me that it is the everyday “don’t quit – keep you focus – keep your hand on the plow” attitude that matters. I confess that the weakest points in my life is when I am tired or frustrated. I am given to extremes. I like things to move fast and not be mundane. However, I am discovering today that it is the daily plowing faithfully with my goal in mind that matters.

That phrase “unto the end” is out of my control. I can quit when I die or when Christ comes again. Until then I have a Lord to Love, a wife to love, children that need me (hopefully grand children one of these days) a calling as pastor , friends and family that I get to care about.

Every now and then I need to be reminded “Don’t Quit!”
