8This is a trustworthy saying. And I want you to stress these things, so that those who have trusted in God may be careful to devote themselves to doing what is good. These things are excellent and profitable for everyone.
Isaiah 1-3 is an example of what happens when people do not act right. Acting right will not make you a Christian any more than standing in a garage makes you a car. However, when the Holy Spirit is given freedom to live God’s life in you, it will transform you. I am so thankful this morning that He chooses to live inside of me. He wants to express His live in my unique personality.
That line “…be careful to devote themselves to doing what is good…” caught my eye this morning. I think there is a proclivity in my own life to do what I want to do. Paul tells Titus to do things like be subject to rulers and authorities…be obedient…ready to do whatever is good…slander no one and the list goes on.
The Christian experience is not finding grace to do what I want to do but to do what I ought to do. I have the chance to choose to do what is good.
Oh that I might do just that today.
