1-2 So if you’re serious about living this new resurrection life with Christ, act like it. Pursue the things over which Christ presides. Don’t shuffle along, eyes to the ground, absorbed with the things right in front of you. Look up, and be alert to what is going on around Christ—that’s where the action is. See things from his perspective. 3-4Your old life is dead. Your new life, which is your real life—even though invisible to spectators—is with Christ in God. He is your life. When Christ (your real life, remember) shows up again on this earth, you’ll show up, too—the real you, the glorious you. Colossians 3 The Message
Maybe it is just me. However, I don’t think so. There are days when I have to PURSUE this life that I have in Christ. I am serious about this new life that I have living in me in the presence of the Holy Spirit. He longs to be let loose in me. Some days start out like a race horse out of the gate when the gun goes off and I run that race with great resolve and vigor. Yet there are days when my old flesh screams. I am reminded again that my old life – my old selfish self-centered life is dead. Christ – The Resurrected One – chooses to live His life out in my life today.
Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us diffuses the fragrance of His Knowledge in every place 2 Cor. 2:14 I am identified in Christ’s death and I am blessed to be identified in His resurrection. I am fully identified with Christ. I am alive in Him and it should be evident today as I live my life in front of other people. I want to be a pleasant aroma – a fragrance that others can smell – a life in whom Christ is living.
In a few moments I will be cooking breakfast. There are sleepy eyes upstairs whose lives will be interrupted by the fragrance of bacon cooking in the pan. It won’t be long before I hear footsteps moving around and traveling down the steps heading for the table. The fragrance preceded the meal. I wonder is the aroma of my life allows others to sense an awareness of God’s presence in my life? He is there.
My new life in Christ – Oh, that I might so live that Christ would be glorified. Oh, that his presence would fill the room.
